Aggelokastro castle

Aggelokastro is one of the most significant Byzantine castles in Greece, built on the highest peak of the island, in the northwestern part of Corfu. The first castle on this site was built in the 13th century, but the building that can be seen today dates back to the 18th-19th century. In it you can see two large water tanks and several churches, one of which is located in a cave. While here, you will also be able to admire spectacular panoramic views.

Achilion palace

About 10 km from Corfu Town is the small village of Gastouri, which has preserved its traditional values and history. In this settlement, there is a magnificent palace built in 1890 for Empress Elizabeth of Austria, where she hid for eight summers until she was assassinated in 1898. For a long time, no one lived in the palace, but later it was bought by the German Emperor Wilhelm II.

Saint Spyridon church

The church built in Corfu is considered one of the most important religious monuments on the island. According to legend, Saint Spyridon even protected the island of Corfu four times from the Ottoman invasion. Like the entire old town, the church is characterized by Venetian architecture, and its bell tower is the highest point of the city.

Perithia village

The old village of Perithia is one of the most charming places to visit in Corfu, located in the northeastern part of the island, at the foot of Mount Pantokrator. It is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement on the island of Corfu since the 14th century. It has only 130 hand-built houses, some of which have already collapsed, while others are being restored. The unique and picturesque village surrounded by an exceptional landscape is included in the list of protected heritage sites.

Paleokastritsa village

A village about 25 km from Corfu town, located in the western part of the island. The cosmopolitan resort lies along a road that winds around beautiful coves and a picturesque harbor from which boat excursions are organized. Paleokastritsa has long been considered one of the most beautiful places on the island of Corfu, which still retains the charm of a traditional village. Near the main resort beach, along the coast, there are several caves that can only be reached by boat. One of the most famous is St. Nicholas Cave. Here you will also discover an old monastery dedicated to the Holy Virgin. It stores holy books, icons, clothes, tools of saints.
